Ernest Blair Clark, 64, passed away Tuesday (Dec. 13, 2011) at home surrounded by family, following a lengthy illness.
Mr. Clark was born on March 1, 1947 in Wellsville, the son of Cecil and Frances (Johnson) Clark. He attended Andover Central School. On Feb. 28, 1998, in Andover, he married Mary Phyllis Carlin, who survives.
Blair worked as a welder for Air Preheater in Wellsville from 1970 until his retirement in 2009.
In addition to his wife, Blair is survived by a son, Ernie (Mary) Clark of Dawsonville, Ga.; a daughter, Michelle Clark Wood of Andover; four brothers, Richard (Nellie) Clark, Jack (Glenna) Clark, Larry (Wanda) Clark and Dale (Marsha) Clark, all of Andover; five sisters, Barbara (Dorr) Olds and Sylvia Lehman, both of Wellsville, Joan (Charley) Wallace of Andover and Carol Roth and Pauline (Garth) Hulin, both of Wabash, Ind.; a brother-in-law, David Ankeny of Crofton, Md.; two step-sons, Lance (Molly) Carlin and Dustin Carlin; 13 grandchildren, Casey Wood, Carly Wood, Christy Wood, Corinna Wood, Ashley Carlin, Brooke Carlin, Andrew Carlin, Jacob Carlin, Jaycie Carlin, Kori Carlin, Brody Carlin, Brianna Glover and Ashley (Kevin) Glover; and an abundance of nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a sister, Beverly Ankeny and a step-son, Derrick Carlin.
Blair was an avid sports fan, especially NASCAR. He was an outdoorsman who liked to hunt and fish. He also enjoyed listening to country music and playing guitar and piano. But mostly, he cherished the time spent with his wife and family.
Friends may call on Friday from 5-8 p.m. at Baker-Swan Funeral Home in Andover. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday at the funeral home with Rev. Frank Troutman of the First Baptist Church of Andover, officiating. Burial will follow in Independence Union Cemetery.
