David F. Conde

imageDavid F. Conde, 74, passed away Saturday (May 7, 2011) at Rochester General Hospital, following a brief illness.

Mr. Conde was born on April 7, 1937, in Montour Falls to Murlyn and Marco (Callahan) Conde. He was a 1955 graduate of Andover Central School. He earned his bachelor’s degree from Ohio State and later earned a master’s degree in engineering. On July 24, 1955, in Andover, he married Diane L. Lewis, who survives.

David began his distinguished career at Alfred State Technical College in 1959. He was promoted to Associate Dean of Engineering in 1988 and in 1989 became the Dean of the School of Engineering until his retirement in 1994.

In addition to his wife Diane, he is survived by two sons, David Scott (Kristine) Conde of Boonton Township, NJ and Steven Lewis (Megan) Conde of San Bruno, Cal.; a brother-in-law, Roger (Joan) Lewis of Andover; three granddaughters, Taylor Conde, Chelsea Conde and Skylar Conde; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

David was predeceased by two brothers, James Conde and Robert Conde; and a sister, Jackie Weigand.

David was an avid reader and was actively engaged in staying current in his field of expertise. He was a member of the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air Conditioning Engineers, the American Society of Engineering Education, the New York State Engineering Technical Association as well as the Society of Automotive Engineers.

Per his wishes, there will be no prior visitation. There will be a private graveside memorial service in Maplewood Cemetery in Alfred Station at the convenience of the family.
