Nicholas L. Marasco, 92, formerly of Honeoye Falls, passed away Saturday (Oct. 29, 2011) at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester.
Mr. Marasco was born on Jan. 13, 1919 in Honeoye Falls to Joseph and Angelina Marasco. He was a 1936 graduate of Honeoye Falls Central School and later served in the U.S Army during World War II from 1941-45 in the Pacific theater. On Aug. 28, 1948, in St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Honeoye Falls, he married Alice L. Beckwith, who survives.
Nicholas worked as a shop foreman for Rittenhouse and later Emerson Electric in Honeoye Falls for many years. Additionally he worked for Cutler Mail Chute as well as owning Nickie’s Nursery where he did landscaping.
In addition to his wife of 63 years, he is survived by two sons, Nicholas R. (Ginny) Marasco of Chittenango and Peter (Kathy) Marasco of Victor; three daughters, Cindy (Dennis) McMullen of Chili, Ginny (Geoff) Smith of Carmel Valley, Cal. and Cheryl Marasco of Walnut Creek, Cal.; six grandchildren, Jacob McMullen, Lt. Sam Smith, Jack Smith, Mindy (Andy) Viscardi, Caitlynn McMullen and Sarah Marasco.
Nicholas was an avid hunter, gardener and enjoyed shooting at the Mendon Conservation League and Wellsville Rod and Gun Club, where he was a member. He was a 50 year member and past captain of Honeoye Falls Volunteer Fire Department. Additionally, he was past commander of the Honeoye Falls American Legion, Post 664 and vice commander of the Monroe County American Legion. But more than these, he was a loving husband, father and grandfather, who cherished the time spent with his family.
Friends may call on Friday from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at Baker-Swan Funeral Home in Andover. There will be a Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday at 11 a.m. at Blessed Sacrament Church with the Rev. Thomas Roman, as celebrant. Burial with full military honors will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
