Michael A. Shoffner

June 29, 1968 - December 30, 2025

HINSDALE – Michael A. Shoffner, 57, passed away on Tuesday (December 30, 2025) at Maple City Nursing Center following a lengthy diagnosis of Lewy Body Dementia.

Mr. Shoffner was born on June 29, 1968 in Tamuning, Guam to Ulys C. and Frances L (Tenorio) Shoffner. He lived in Guam until he was 14 when his family returned to the states.

Mike worked in various construction jobs, most recently with LC Whitford in Wellsville. Prior to that he worked primarily in sheet metal manufacturing and acquired a considerable amount of knowledge of the industry. A work-related injury in 2010 rendered Mike unable to hold a job again.

Mike is survived by his dear “other half,” Arlene Ervay of Hinsdale; a sister, Michelle (William) McCarthy of California; a brother, Thomas Shoffner of Knoxville, TN; and a step-son, Jamie Ervay of Hinsdale.

Along with his parents, Mike was predeceased by a brother, Ronnie Shoffner.

Mike loved and was proficient at working on cars. During his six-year tenure in Tennessee, he delighted in drag racing in his cousin’s vehicle. His favorite place to visit in Tennessee was Dollywood. He was generally very mechanical.

Conversely, Mike was a contented person who simply enjoyed hanging out with Arlene and watching television. The occasional trip out to a river or lake to do some fishing excited him. He was also fond of animals and had several pets over the years.

Mike was a laid-back personality, but was quick to be available to do anything for anyone.

Services will be held at a time to be announced. Arrangements are under the direction of Baker-Swan Funeral Home in Wellsville/Scio. Online condolences may be offered at www.baker-swan.com.

Memorial contributions in Mike’s memory may be made to SPCA in Cattaraugus County, 2944 Route 16N, Olean, NY 14760. © 2025 Baker-Swan Funeral Home.
