Laura L. Loucks

August 9, 1958 - August 26, 2025

WELLSVILLE – Laura Leigh Loucks, 67, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family, on Tuesday (August 26, 2025) in Wellsville. She concluded her courageous battle with cancer with the same quiet strength and grace that defined her life.

Laura was born in Wellsville on August 9, 1958 to Robert and Ruby (McDowell) Dunham. She was a 1977 graduate of Wellsville High School. On October 25, 1980 at the Christian Temple in Wellsville, Laura married the love of her life, Terry P. Loucks, who preceded her in death on February 10, 2022.

After high school, Laura moved to California with her sister Yvonne and developed a love for that part of the country. After she returned to Wellsville, she worked as a waitress at the Beef Haus–where she and Terry met. In 1985, Laura’s focus changed to nurturing her family as a stay-at-home mom and wife. Later she worked at Coslo’s in Almond also as a waitress. She partnered with a good friend to own and operate Sweet Attitudes, making candy. She also owned with her husband and good friends, Jody and Chris Torrey the Village Booksellers in Wellsville. Laura devoted the remaining 25 years of her career as a teacher’s assistant at CA BOCES primarily in Scio.

Laura is survived by her three children, Kristen Loucks and Elizabeth (Chris Clark) Loucks, both of Wellsville and Brad (Jessica Preston) Loucks of Andover; siblings, Yvonne (Jody) Johannessen of Irvine, Calif., Ann (Tom) Smith of Texas, Bill (Sharon) Dunham of Alaska, and Bob Dunham and David (Malena) Dunham, both of Wellsville; seven grandchildren, Claytin Loucks, Carly Loucks, Stephen Loucks, David Clark, Adriene Clark, Kendyl Clark, and Landon Clark; one Goddaughter, Meagan Riley; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Laura delighted in traveling with her husband, particularly enjoying the Cayman Islands, Florida, Thailand and Alaska. She truly enjoyed her vacations with her children who fondly remember the Myrtle Beach, California and Florida excursions. Once each year, Laura and long-time friends would get away for a “Girl’s Trip.”

Laura was a hard-working and loving woman. She did so much for her children and grandchildren. She supported them in anyway that she could and was always a fan at their games. Laura’s giving and generous nature ensured that everyone she loved felt cared for. She leaves behind a legacy of unwavering support, unconditional love, and a strength that will forever live on in her family.
