Scott C. Seslar

March 28, 1962 - August 19, 2025

WARD – Scott C. Seslar, 63, recently of Jefferson City, Mo., entered into the presence of his Lord on Tuesday (August 19, 2025) at home.

Scott was born on March 28, 1962 in Detroit, Mich. to Joseph C. and Kathryn A. (Glanville) Seslar. He was a 1980 graduate of Lakeview High School in St. Clair Shores, Mich. He later earned a Bachelor’s of Science from Wayne State University in Detroit, Mich. and a Master’s of Science from Walsh College in Troy, Mich. Scott was also a Certified Public Accountant.

Scott taught accounting for several colleges over the course of his career, notably as an Assistant Professor at Alfred University in Alfred and an Associate Professor at Lincoln University of Missouri in Jefferson City, Mo. He had just recently accepted a position at Cunningham, Stauring & Associates and would have started working in their Wellsville office in January.

Scott is survived by a brother, Robert (Cynthia) Seslar of Sterling Heights, Mich.; two nephews, Michael (Kelly) Gale and Robert Nowicki; one grand-nephew, Robert Gale and one grand-niece, Olivia Gale.

In addition to his parents he was predeceased by a brother, Karl Seslar.

Scott was a huge University of Michigan Wolverine football fan. Go Blue! He was smart and incredibly funny. Scott would describe himself as a bit of a gypsy as his working career caused him to relocate to Florida, Colorado, West Virginia, Missouri and New York. He loved making new friends and his travels provided many opportunities for doing just that.

Scott was a big animal lover and was nuts about his cats. He considered himself a “city boy” with all the activities of city life and yet was adaptable to the life of rural living. Scott was an active member of the Wellsville McDonald’s Coffee Club. But more than all this, Scott was a man of faith and loved his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

There will be no prior visitation. A Celebration of Life Ceremony will be held at a time to be determined.

  1. My deepest condolence to the family. I had the pleasure of working with Scott in Missouri since 2022 and had just recently said goodbye as he went off to another adventure. Scott was a good person and will be missed by his friends.

  2. To Scott’s Family and Cats:

I am so sorry and stunned to hear of Scott’s passing. He and I had been texting just four days prior, and I was getting ready to text him the next morning when I received the heartbreaking news.

I had the privilege of working with Scott for about six years as a fellow faculty member at the Lincoln University School of Business in Jefferson City, MO. During that time, I got to know him well—not just as a colleague, but as a kind and thoughtful person.

I was able to support him during some of his medical appointments, helping with transportation when he needed it. We have stayed in touch over the years. Scott was a genuinely good-hearted person, and I will always remember his unique sense of humor, sharp wit, and kind spirit.

As a fellow animal ‘nut,’ I know how much his cats meant to him. Please take good care of them — they were his family, and I know he would have wanted that.

My deepest condolences. My thoughts are with you and everyone who loved and cared for him.

  3. Dear Rob and family, I’m so truly sorry about Scotty. I’ve been friends with him so long that I can’t even remember how long. He was always my “chaperone” back in high school, making sure I was always ok and safe. We had so many great times together . Scotty remained my friend from afar all these year later. I wish we could have met up again in person like we had talked about. It just never happened. I’ll always be so proud of him and his accomplishments and his compassion for animals. And thankfully we agreed on politics! I hope he is now one of my guardian angels, still watching over me.
