Linda L. Clarke

November 7, 1944 - April 9, 2024

ANDOVER – Linda L. Clarke, 79, passed away on Tuesday (April 9, 2024) at Highland Park Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Wellsville following a lengthy illness.

Mrs. Clark was born on November 7, 1944 in Wellsville to Robert and Gertrude (Hogan) Cornell. She was a 1962 graduate of Scio Central School. On August 19, 1968 she married Gerald F. Clarke, who survives.

Linda worked as a custodian for Alfred State College in Alfred for 23 years, retiring in 2003. She previously worked in cafeteria food service for ACES, also in Alfred.

In addition to her husband of 55 years, Linda is survived by a son, Scott (Misha) Clarke of Titusville, Fla.; a daughter, Stacey (Lawrence Davis) Remillard of Andover; two brothers, Gary (Luanne) Cornell of Amity and Jeffrey (Debbie) Cornell of Wellsville; a sister, Kathy Walker of Millsport, Pa.; a sister-in-law, Hazel Cornell of Scio; four grandchildren, Lisa Clarke, Hannah (Landon) Smith, Donald Remillard and Anastacia (Ryan Suter) Remillard; one great-grandson, Flynn Suter; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was predeceased by one brother, Rodney Cornell and a brother-in-law, Tom Walker.

Linda loved camping and traveling. Some of the greatest memories are the camping trips along Conesus Lake and elsewhere where the whole family would be together. She loved to fish and in her younger days enjoyed water skiing. Visiting Hershey, Pa. and Disney World, Fla. provided great memories as well. She and her husband became snow birds where they would spend the winter months in Titusville, Fla.

Linda was an avid reader, preferring romance novels and Christian books. She was a big fan of the older Country Music songs and was always ready for a good game of euchre. She was a member of the Andover First Baptist Church.

Visitation will be held on Friday (April 12) from 6-8 p.m. at Baker-Swan Funeral Home in Andover. The funeral service will be on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Daryl Ordiway of the Andover First Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow in the Independence Union Cemetery. 1. I’m sorry for your loss, Gerry. I, along with everybody else, thought very highly of Linda, who was really friendly and caring. You both joined all of our family events and were fun and to reminisce and joke with. You and family are in my prayers and best thoughts. So many of us can relate to you right now; I lost Jack back in October. It may not get much easier, but your perspective and memories will become happier and more meaningful over time.
