Lois E. Francisco

July 11, 1938 - October 3, 2024

AMITY – Lois E. Francisco, 86, entered into the presence of her Lord on Thursday (October 3, 2024) at the Hart Comfort House of Allegany County following a lengthy illness.

Mrs. Francisco was born on July 11, 1938 in Burtville, Pa. to Warren E. and Doris (Burt) Tripp. She was a 1956 graduate of Port Allegany High School in Port Allegany, Pa. Later, she graduated from Lock Haven State Teachers College, earned her Bachelor in Education from Lock Haven University and her Master’s from Penn State University in 1963. Lois also earned her New York State license to teach also in 1963. On July 9, 1966 at the Andover Presbyterian Church she married Miles N. Francisco, who survives.

Lois began her teaching career in 1960 with Shinglehouse Central School in Shinglehouse, Pa. teaching third grade. In 1963 she transferred to Andover Central School where she taught third to fifth grade through the 1972 school year. She taught 2 years for the First Baptist Church Christian Day School in Belmont before finishing her career with The Cattaraugus/Allegany BOCES in Special Education, retiring in 1999.

In addition to her husband of 58 years, Lois is survived by a daughter, Gina (Mark) Morris of Thoreau, N.M.; a son, Jason (Kari) Francisco of Big Bear Lake, Calif.; a sister-in-law Bonnie Tripp; seven grandchildren, Rachel (Logan) Hengel, Kristin (Efrain) Saune, Paul Morris, Melissa Morris, Dylan Francisco, Shannon Francisco and Lily Francisco; one great granddaughter, Melody Hengel; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was predeceased by a daughter, Renee Francisco, a sister, Marian (Butch) Yaun and a brother, Walter Tripp.

Lois liked to keep her hands busy and her mind active. Her faith was very important to her and helped her greatly during her 21 years as a caregiver for her daughter Renee. For many years she directed the Andover Presbyterian Church Choir and the Wellsville CMA Church Choir. Later she was a regular attender of the Wellsville Bible Church.

Some favorite family memories were the RV trips to Florida, Virginia and New England.

There will be a time of visitation on Monday (October 7) from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the Baker-Swan Funeral Home in Wellsville/Scio. The funeral service will be held on Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Daniel Kenyon of the Wellsville Bible Church officiating. Burial will follow in Fairlawn Cemetery in Scio.   1. PTL Our dear Lois isn’t suffering. Heaven is rejoicing. Lois is being missed by all who were blessed to know her. She was always smiling and loved the Lord. Loved her crafts and towels she made. Still have them. May God bless Miles and her dear family thru these times.
