Cathy M. Horton

May 18, 1965 - May 19, 2026

ATTICA – Cathy M. Horton, 61, passed away on Tuesday (May 19, 2026) at Jones Memorial Hospital in Wellsville following an unexpected medical event.

Cathy was born on May 18, 1965 in Cuba to Forest C. and Lucille M. (Gordon) Hamer. On September 26, 1984, at the Salvation Army Church in Wellsville she married John E. Horton, who survives.

Cathy worked as a farm laborer for many years, most recently for the past six years at Hirst’s Dairy Farm in Alexander where she cared for the calves and assisted with the cows.

In addition to her husband John of 41 years, Cathy is survived by her four children, Johnny Horton of Akron, Tasha Horton of Alexander, Amanda (Albert) Reinhart of Wyoming and Justin Horton of Akron; her mother, Lucille (Bill) Powers of Oramel; three brothers, Forest (Barbara) Hamer, Jason (Elizabeth) Hamer and Scott Hamer; three sisters, Teresa Hamer, Susette Hamer and Michelle Mooney; eight grandchildren, Karen, Rorrin, Mario, Donald, Ethelyn, David, Nathan and Rhettlynn; one great-granddaughter, Angel; one brother-in-law, Lawrence (Donna) Horton; two sisters-in-law, Debbie O’Donnell and Dawn (Frank) Kogeal; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to her father, she was predeceased by a son-in-law, Donald Reinhart.

Cathy loved being around and spending time with her grandchildren. She enjoyed the summer picnics with family and especially liked the Christmas season. She was always easy going except when she was cheering on her Buffalo Bills.

Cathy enjoyed doing the little things with her husband. Together they loved yard-saling and treasure hunting at flea markets. A favorite pastime was the back-road car rides to get lost. Camping was another shared favorite summertime enjoyment.

There will be a time of visitation on Saturday (May 23) from 1-3 p.m. at Baker-Swan Funeral Home in Wellsville/Scio. A Celebration of Life Service will be held later in the summer at a date to be determined. Burial will be in Until the Day Dawn Cemetery in Angelica.
