Ronald Reed Sr.

June 28, 1928 - November 17, 2020

CALEDONIA – Roland Reed, Sr., 70, passed away Tuesday (Nov. 17, 2020) at Jones Memorial Hospital following a lengthy illness.

Mr. Reed was born on Aug. 16, 1950 in Rochester to William and Josephine (Zick) Reed. On July 5, 1969 he married Margaret E. Kessler at Ellison Park in Rochester, who predeceased him on Nov. 17, 2011.

Roland worked as an electrician for Rochester Gas and Electric for many years. He also worked for Attica Bus Service for about ten years, retiring in 2011.

Roland is survived by his children, Roland Jr. (Amanda) Reed of Livonia, Jean (Scott) Reed of Greece, and Paula (Robert) Shaffer of Rochester; twelve grandchildren, Rob, Mike, Corey, Amanda, Jessica, Jamie, Jody, Roland III, Brandon, Robert, Christopher, and Brianna; 9 great grandchildren, Macey, Adien, Logan, Noah, Landon, Lillian, Olivia, Rayden and Dominic, as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to his wife of 42 years, Roland was predeceased by a daughter, Penny Cruz.

Roland was a handyman and especially liked remodeling projects of all kinds. He also enjoyed playing horseshoes and poker with friends and family and was mostly content to keep to himself indoors. He was also a big Elvis fan and listened to his music every Sunday. When outdoors, his activity of choice was fishing with the family. A frequent event that delighted him were the big family picnics at Caulkins Park in Henrietta.

Due to Covid-19 restrictions, a Celebration of Life Service is planned at Charlotte Pier in Rochester in the spring at a time to be determined. Arrangements are under the direction of Baker-Swan Funeral Home in Wellsville-Scio. Online condolences may be offered at
