Michael R. Messinger

August 19, 1967 - June 7, 2021

He gave everyone he knew the perfect nicknames.

ALFRED – Michael Robert Messinger, 53, passed away on Monday (June 7, 2021) as a result of a lingering illness.

Mr. Messinger was born on August 19, 1967 in Soest, Netherlands to Dwight D. and Geertruda (Boon) Messinger, who survive. He was a 1985 graduate of Alfred-Almond Central School.

For many years, Michael worked as a carpenter for Dumore Construction in Beaufort, S.C.

Along with his parents, Mike is survived by a son, Caleb (Charmaine E.) Messinger of Sequim, Wash. and a daughter, Haley Messinger, of Concord, N.C.; a brother, Duncan A. Messinger of Loveland, Colo., a sister, Connie A. Messinger of Cookville, Tenn.; two grandchildren, Ashlyn M. Messinger and Wyatt M. Messinger, both of Sequim, Wash.; four nephews, Nick Messinger, Leo Delima, Brady Messinger, and Nathaniel Messinger and a great-nephew, Salvatore Messinger.

As an extension of his carpenter experience, Mike enjoyed woodworking. He was also an avid fisherman, hunter and loved the fresh air boating out on the open water.

He had a huge heart and a charismatic personality. He gave everyone he knew the perfect nicknames. He was the life of the party. He lived life on his own terms, in his own way. He loved his kids and grandkids more than life itself.
