Donita R. Schultz

October 27, 1962 - December 5, 2024

CANASERAGA – Donita Roseta Schultz, 62, passed away on Thursday (December 5, 2024) at Noyes Hospital in Dansville.

Donita was born on October 27, 1962 in Buffalo to Donald L. and Vera E. (Elliott) Schultz and was raised by her grandparents, Ellsworth and Vera Elliott. She was a 1980 graduate of Angelica Central School.

Donita is survived by a sister, Patty L. Kellogg of Fillmore; two brothers, Donald E. Schultz of Buffalo and Michael J. (Robin) Schultz of Canaseraga; eight nieces and nephews, Loretta (Chris) Grover, Arthur (Cassy Kellogg) Schultz, Jr., Samantha Schultz, Michael Schultz, Jr., Stanley Schultz, Tiarra Schultz, Tricia Gladky and Elaina (George) Oliver; and 13 great nieces and great nephews, Evelynn Grover, Everett Grover, Braelyn Kellogg, Paisley Kellogg, Owen Kellogg, Lucas Kellogg, Prince Schultz, Skii Gladky, Logan Gladky, Elijah Conner, Coral Oliver, George Hunter Oliver and Waverly Oliver.

Though born with special needs, Donita was special in every way. She loved people, especially her family. She shared the same home with her brother Michael her entire life and though by age she was big sister, by affection she was “little sis”. She mimicked him in so many ways and adored being with him. And living with Donita produced some interesting moments. She had this obsessive need to organize things around her and as long as everything matched, all was well but if something didn’t fit her organizational pattern, her solution was to hide it. It’s amazing the number of ordinary household items that would turn up in the most unexpected places.

Donita was a talker and never met a stranger. This combination made for many memorable moments. She enjoyed eating and loved her diet sodas. And anytime there was a swimming pool around, she wanted to be the first in and the last out.

Donita’s Grandpa Ellsworth was a pastor and taught her about the Lord. For her, it was natural to have a childlike faith, uncluttered with the cares of the world. Two things that were dear to her were her coloring book and her Bible. She carried them wherever she went and in the case of her Bible she slept with it under her pillow. Her three favorite days of the year were her birthday, Christmas and Easter. They brought great joy to her and allowed her to point the way to God.

There will be a time of visitation for family and friends to be held after the holidays and will be announced at a later time. Her ashes will be laid to rest in Hillside Cemetery in Andover beside her grandmother in the spring. Online condolences may be offered at www.baker-swan.com.

Memorial contributions in Donita’s name may be made to The Children’s Hospital of Buffalo Foundation, 1028 Main St., 4th Floor, Buffalo, NY 14202. © 2024 Baker-Swan Funeral Home.
