ANDOVER – Wayne R. Ordiway, 81, passed away peacefully on Tuesday (April 18, 2023) at Highland Park Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Wellsville.
Mr. Ordiway was born on May 16, 1941 in Wellsville to Richard and Kathleen (Ellsworth) Ordiway. On October 9, 1982 at the Andover Rod and Gun Club he married Glenda Ordiway, who survives.
Wayne was a truck driver for 27 years for L.C. Whitford in Wellsville, retiring in 2000. He also worked for A. L. Blades and Sons in Hornell.
In addition to his wife, Wayne is survived by nine children, Danny (Shelly) Ordiway of Norwalk, Calif., Vivian (Nick) Moline of Andover, Gordon (Jill) Ordiway of Belmont, Lester Doud of Wellsville, Rhonda (Marty) Locke of Epworth, Ga., Glenna (Monte) Milligan of Auburn, Michelle Huey of Rapid City, S.D., Jim (Amber) Huey of South Dansville and Alisha Koch of Auburn; 40 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a son, Kenneth Ordiway; a sister and brother-in-law, Virginia “Ginger” and Jim Hosmer; a step-father, Gordon Stearns; his first wife, Barbra Ordiway; and his second wife, Sharon Ordiway.
Wayne loved tinkering in his garage and working outside around the yard especially if it involved his John Deere backhoe. He used it to spread dirt, plow driveways and even dig foundations.
Wayne loved his family and truly enjoyed the family get-togethers. He was quite the jokester.
He enjoyed going camping with his wife Glenda to Lake Lodge in Alfred and Allegany State Park in Salamanca. In nice weather he would go for a ride on his Harley motorcycle. When he was younger, Wayne enjoyed hunting and fishing.
For inside pleasures, Wayne had some model train set-ups upstairs; he liked his Westerns on TV and liked to drop in on friends for a game of cards.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, (July 29) from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Baker-Swan Funeral Home in Andover. The memorial service will take place at the funeral home at 1 p.m. immediately following the visitation with Rev. Calvin Densmore of the Andover First Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will follow on Sunday, (July 30) at 11 a.m. at Wells Cemetery in Oswayo, Pa. where his ashes will be laid to rest beside his sister Ginger.
